The St. Louis Women’s Chorale was founded in 1995 in recognition that there not only is a special beauty in, but also a special need for, hearing women’s voices.

Artistic Director, Scott Schoonover, has led The St. Louis Women’s Chorale since May 2001. He was the Chorale’s accompanist from 1995-1998 before moving to Rome, Italy, where he studied opera conducting and Italian at the Accademia Filarmonia in Bologna and Rome. Schoonover is the founding Artistic Director and conductor of the critically acclaimed Union Avenue Opera, established in 1994. He is active as a guest conductor and has appeared locally with many groups including the St. Louis Brass Band, the Bel Canto Chorus of St. Louis, and the Gateway Men’s Chorus. The St. Louis Women’s Chorale was founded in 1995 in recognition that there not only is a special beauty in, but also a special need for, hearing women’s voices. Mr. Schoonover also serves as the Director of Music at Union Avenue Christian Church.
